Prima Pramac Yamaha have confirmed that Jack Miller will leave the team at the end of the 2026 season, bringing his second spell with the Pramac outfit to a close.
Miller returned to Pramac in 2025 when the team began its partnership with Yamaha. His experience proved valuable as Yamaha developed its new V4 project, and the Australian earned a contract extension for 2026.
However, Miller’s future beyond this season had become increasingly uncertain as the 2027 rider market began to take shape. Yamaha has already made significant changes to its line-up for the next regulation cycle, while Pramac’s 2027 plans have also started to come together.
The timing of Miller’s departure therefore reflects more than simply his results this season. The Australian entered 2026 as an important part of Yamaha’s development programme, but the manufacturer now has to make decisions with its longer-term project in mind.
Miller’s 2026 campaign has also been difficult. Yamaha’s V4 machine has struggled for competitiveness at points during the season, with Miller describing the early part of the campaign as frustrating.
Despite the split, Miller has made clear that he still believes he has more to offer.
“I still believe I have more to offer and more to achieve,” Miller said following the announcement, adding that he would take that motivation into whatever comes next.
What comes next for Miller?
Miller’s next destination has not been officially confirmed, but a move into WorldSBK has become increasingly associated with his future.
Reports have linked him with Yamaha’s WorldSBK project, potentially allowing the manufacturer to retain his experience within its wider racing programme even after his MotoGP departure.
For now, Miller still has the remainder of the 2026 season with Pramac Yamaha. His departure marks the end of his MotoGP chapter with the team, but it may not necessarily mean the end of his relationship with Yamaha.
