Luca Marini will join Red Bull KTM Tech3 for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons, with the Italian set to leave Honda at the end of the 2026 campaign.
Tech3 confirmed Marini’s signing on Wednesday, securing the 29-year-old for the opening two seasons of MotoGP’s new technical era, which begins in 2027.
Marini joined Honda for the 2024 season after spending three seasons with VR46 Ducati. He has remained with the Japanese manufacturer through the 2026 season but will now move to KTM’s satellite operation for his next chapter in the premier class.
The move also marks a significant change for Tech3, which will operate under its new ownership structure from 2027 and will negotiate its own rider contracts while continuing to receive KTM machinery and technical support.
Marini will therefore enter the 2027 season with a new team and a new-generation MotoGP bike as the championship moves to 850cc engines and Pirelli tyres.
His two-year agreement keeps him with Tech3 through the end of the 2028 season.
